2025 Summer Observation Campaign off Sanriku #11

Posted: 2025.06.28

Yesterday in Otsuchi, we made preparations for the intensive observations, including moving the helium gas cylinders. We also had the opportunity to see the sea turtles being kept at the Atmosphere and Ocean Research Institute. Afterwards, we had a pre-observation meeting and took a group photo of everyone looking lively before the observations. The hourly sonde observations are progressing smoothly and will continue non-stop until the morning of the 30th. (Ryosuke Sekiguchi, ECHOES)

PS: After finishing observations one night, a police car stopped in front of us and the officer asked, “Are you fishing?”
