A02-5 started observation at Chichijima Island!

Posted: 2024.10.29

Continuous observation at Chichijima Island in the Pacific Ocean by A02-5 started on September 6.  Aerosols and rain will be sampled throughout the year at the Ogasawara Downrange Station of JAXA, and analyzed to clarify the impact of atmospheric deposition on marine ecosystems in the western North Pacific subtropical region.

As Hegurajima Island in the Japan Sea off the Noto Peninsula, the other island where A02-5 had planned continuous observation, was heavily damaged by the Noto Peninsula Earthquake in January 2024, we are going to start observation instead at the Noto Atmospheric Monitoring Observatory (Supersite) of Institute of Nature and Environmental Technology, Kanazawa University in Suzu city from December 2024.
